Fresh revelations have surfaced regarding Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s health condition, with political commentator Okatakyie Afrifa providing a detailed account of events leading to her hospitalization and subsequent transfer abroad for treatment.
During a Facebook live session on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, Afrifa alleged that the government kept Ghanaians in the dark about the Vice President’s illness for some time before finally making an official statement on March 28, 2025.
According to him, Opoku-Agyemang was already in a critical state when authorities acknowledged her condition publicly.
Afrifa claimed that she was initially taken to the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC), where doctors identified symptoms of a mild stroke.
Given the severity of her condition, medical experts reportedly advised that she receive specialized care outside Ghana.
Acting on this recommendation, the government arranged for her to be flown to the United Kingdom for further treatment.
The situation has sparked discussions within political circles, with Afrifa noting that some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have remained noticeably silent on the Vice President’s health crisis.
He suggested that this could be linked to previous criticisms of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia when he also traveled abroad for medical treatment.
Despite his critical stance on how the government handled the issue, Afrifa expressed his hope for Opoku-Agyemang’s swift recovery and return to Ghana.
So far, there have been no additional updates from government officials regarding her current condition or when she is expected back in the country.
Meanwhile, many Ghanaians continue to send their prayers and well wishes for her healing.
