Kojo Asante Anane, the Chief Executive Officer of Okatakyie Hotel in Takoradi, has been accused of physically assaulting a customer and using his political connections to evade accountability.
The alleged victim, identified as Daniel Pumi, reportedly sustained multiple injuries, including bleeding cuts, after Mr Anane attacked him with a belt and a pump-action gun. The assault, described as unprovoked, left Pumi requiring medical attention.
In a surprising turn of events, Mr Anane is said to have pre-emptively reported Pumi to the Takoradi Central Police Station, resulting in Pumi’s arrest.
The arrest, based on what sources describe as fabricated claims, appeared to be a strategy to prevent Pumi from pursuing assault charges. Pumi was detained until a friend secured his release with a bail payment of GHC 1,000.
The incident has stirred outrage in Takoradi, with many expressing concerns over the apparent abuse of power.
Reports suggest that Mr Anane boasted about his ties to influential figures, including Honourable Yaw Boamah-Nyarko, the Member of Parliament for Effia, and claimed that these connections would shield him from facing any consequences.
The case has intensified calls for a thorough investigation into the incident and for justice to be served.
