Former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, has expressed confidence in Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

Speaking during the voting process on Saturday January 31, 2026, Okraku-Mantey said Dr Bawumia has demonstrated the qualities needed to lead and unite the party.

He noted that while party members may hold strong views during internal contests, unity must prevail once the results are declared.

Okraku-Mantey said the outcome of the election should be clear by the close of polls.

“If the results come out after five o’clock, you will know where you are,” he stated.

Okraku-Mantey stressed that his support for the NPP is rooted in the party’s vision and principles rather than individual personalities.

“I belong to the party because of its direction and its values,” he said.

He urged party supporters to act responsibly after the primaries, particularly if their preferred candidate does not emerge victorious.

“When emotions rise, we must return to rational thinking,” he added, calling on party members to rally behind whoever wins the contest.
