A horrific incident has shaken the small town of Achonwa in the Western Region, where a 60-year-old man, Isaac Ansah, was burnt alive by a mob last Thursday.

The victim, a farmer, was accused of submitting names of 14 residents to a chief priest for rituals and sacrifice.

According to eyewitnesses, Ansah was tied to a tree at the Achonwa Palace and set on fire, with car tyres doused in petrol used to accelerate the flames.

The gruesome act was carried out in broad daylight, with some community members present.

The police have arrested six suspects, including the Caretaker Chief of Achonwa, Nana Ojundi, and assembly member Godfred Cudjoe, in connection with the incident.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Dr Mensah Mortuary at Apowa, awaiting autopsy.

The family of the victim is calling for justice and swift action from the police to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many condemning the brutal act.
