One dead, several injured in head-on crash at Ejisu

One person has been confirmed dead, with several others sustaining critical injuries, following a head-on collision involving two commercial vehicles at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

The accident occurred when a Ford vehicle and a Toyota Hiace minibus crashed under circumstances described by witnesses as severe.

The vehicles involved were a Ford with registration number AW 3264-21 and a Toyota Hiace with registration number AS 3552-20.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the Toyota Hiace, which was travelling towards Kumasi, reportedly lost control while speeding and rammed into the Ford vehicle that was heading from Kumasi towards Ejisu.

The impact caused extensive damage to both vehicles and left many of the occupants seriously injured. Among those affected were two senior high school students who were on their way to school at the time of the crash.

All the injured passengers were rushed to Living Waters Hospital for medical treatment, where one victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

An eyewitness, Michael Asante, said several passengers suffered broken limbs.

“Many of the passengers were injured, some with broken hands and legs. All the seats in the car were damaged,” he said.
