In connection with the continuing criminal trial of former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and nine other accused individuals, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has revealed that it now owns and manages a number of high-value assets. Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng signed the OSP’s 2025 Half-Yearly Report, which includes the revelation.

The assets are evidence in the case (CR/0603/2025), which is proceeding before the Accra Criminal High Court, according to the newspaper. Four gas stations in Accra’s Opeikuma, Dansoman, Abeka Lapaz, and Millennium City are among the properties that were confiscated, along with GH¢951,995.56 in cash. Additionally, the OSP has acquired a number of land parcels across the country, including property valued at GH¢9.93 million in Tamale, GH¢2.737 million in Haatso, GH¢4.766 million in Danyame in Kumasi, and an unvalued piece of land in Adenta.

The Office also oversees a number of residential properties in desirable Accra neighborhoods. These include apartments in Airport Residential Area, Boundary Road, Roman Ridge, and Adjiringanor, each worth millions of cedis, and a two-story building at East Legon valued at GH¢12.7 million.Twenty-three fuel tanker trucks, several unfinished apartment buildings at Airport City and Roman Ridge, and six residential blocks worth GH¢10 million in Agbogba are among the other assets under OSP control.

In addition, the OSP disclosed that investigations into the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) have resulted in the seizure of luxury cars worth around GH¢18.6 million. A Rolls-Royce Mansory Phantom, Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680, Mercedes-Benz Brabus 800, Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, Lexus LX600, and two Fiat bullion vans are among these automobiles. The asset seizures come after Dr. Abdul-Hamid and nine other people—including three private companies and former and present NPA officials—were charged with conspiring to extort more than GH¢291 million from petroleum industry participants.

The accused, according to the prosecution, collected GH¢291,574,087.19 and US$332,407.47 illegally from bulk oil carriers and oil marketing businesses between December 2022 and December 2024, despite not having the legal capacity to do so.

Former Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund Coordinator Jacob Kwamina Amuah, NPA audit officer Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bediako-Mensah, and Kwaku Aboagye Acquaah are among those on trial. Propnest Limited, KEL Logistics Limited, and Kings Energy Limited are the businesses mentioned in the lawsuit. As the OSP continues its asset tracing, seizure, and prosecution activities, the case is still pending before the High Court.
