The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a wanted notice for Ernest Darko Akore, a former top technical advisor at the Ministry of Finance, in connection with a high-profile investigation into suspected corruption.
Akore, who once served as Chef de Cabinet at the Ministry, is under scrutiny for his alleged role in the controversial Revenue Assurance Contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML). The investigation forms part of a broader probe into suspected financial misconduct tied to the multi-million cedi agreement.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the OSP disclosed that an arrest warrant had been secured from the Criminal Division of the High Court for Akore’s apprehension. The case is officially titled Republic v. Ernest D. Akore.
Authorities believe the 67-year-old, who reportedly held an American passport in prior years, may be evading arrest outside Ghana. His current whereabouts are unknown, but officials suspect he could be in the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, or South Africa.
To aid in locating him, the OSP has activated two dedicated WhatsApp hotlines—0554494499 and 0554484488—through which the public can provide credible information or tips.
The declaration marks another significant move in the OSP’s intensifying efforts to crack down on high-level corruption and financial crimes. The Revenue Assurance deal between GRA and SML has come under heavy public and institutional scrutiny, with several actors expected to be held accountable as investigations unfold.
