Black Stars head coach Otto Addo was present at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg last Thursday night to observe Ghanaian players in action during the Europa League encounter between Red Bull Salzburg and FC Basel.

The match featured two Ghanaian prospects, Edmund Baidoo of Red Bull Salzburg and Jonas Adjei Adjetey of FC Basel. Adjetey put in a solid performance, playing the entire duration of the match, while Baidoo featured prominently before being substituted in the 90th minute for fellow Ghanaian Karim Konate.

Salzburg went on to secure a convincing 3–1 victory.

Addo’s presence in Salzburg forms part of his ongoing assessment of Ghanaian players both at home and abroad as preparations intensify ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Over the past few weeks, the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has embarked on an extensive scouting tour across Europe to monitor the form and progress of potential Black Stars call-ups.

The Black Stars coach has already visited Spain to watch Abdul Mumin and Kwasi Sibo and has also closely followed the performances of several key players, including Jordan Ayew, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Mohammed Salisu, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Mohammed Kudus.

According to sources close to the technical team, these monitoring visits are aimed not only at assessing individual performances but also at strengthening team cohesion, fostering unity, and instilling a strong winning culture within the Black Stars setup as Ghana builds toward the global showpiece.

Ghana is scheduled to face Panama, England, and Croatia in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States in June.
