The Executive Head of Retail Banking at GCB Bank, Sina Kamagate, says the bank’s ongoing ‘Pa to Pa’ promotion is delivering on its promise, encouraging customers to save while rewarding their loyalty with exciting prizes.
Mr Kamagate made the remarks during the second and third monthly draws of the promotion, held at the food court of Accra Mall on March 13, as part of a nationwide savings initiative designed to reward customer loyalty, encourage regular deposits, and strengthen engagement with customers.
The draw for the second and third batches kicks off an exciting journey that will culminate with five lucky winners enjoying an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2026 Global Football Festival in Canada and the United States.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Kamagate reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to customers and rewarding their loyalty through innovative savings initiatives.
Promotion to encourage savings
Mr Kamagate recalled that the ‘Pa to Pa’ promotion was launched on December 22 to encourage customers to actively save while benefiting from the bank’s loyalty reward programme.
“If you remember, we were with you on the 22nd of December when we did the launch of our Pa to Pa promo, a promo that was intended to avail the opportunity to our customers to save, build points, and qualify for various awards,” he explained.
According to him, the promotion spans four months, with prizes awarded each month to top-performing customers. The campaign will culminate in a grand finale in May, based on savings made in April.
“And then the grand final, where we are sending five lucky customers to the World Cup in the Americas,” he said.
The five winners will have the opportunity to travel and watch the Ghana national football team compete at the FIFA World Cup.
Simple participation structure
Mr Kamagate explained that the promotion has been structured in a simple and accessible manner to encourage broad participation from customers.
“What are the dynamics? Very simple. Every customer of GCB, for every 300 Ghana cedis deposit you make, you build a point,” he said. At the end of each month, the bank ranks participating customers based on the number of points accumulated, with the top ten customers receiving rewards.
“So at the end of the month, we’ll just do a simple ranking of all customers, and then the top 10 are rewarded,” he noted.
He indicated that the bank has already rewarded winners for the second and third months of the promotion, while the remaining rounds will take place in March and April ahead of the grand finale.
“What you have seen is month two and then month three awards we have given out to customers. That leads us to just the month of March and then April,” he said.
Call for more participation
Mr Kamagate encouraged customers who have not yet participated in the promotion to take advantage of the remaining months by saving in multiples of GH¢300 to accumulate points and increase their chances of winning.
“To customers who haven’t partaken in this whole thing, we are encouraging them to save in multiples,” he said.
He also invited individuals who are not yet customers of the bank to open accounts through the bank’s website or mobile application to take part in the promotion.
“And to those who are out of GCB, this is an opportunity for you to join the bank. You can go online, you can go to the GCB website, and you will open an account. You can download our mobile app on any of the stores and then open an account,” he stated.
Mr Kamagate added that existing customers who have been inactive could also benefit by reactivating their accounts to participate.
“And to our customers who, for one reason or another, have stayed out of GCB for some time, it’s an opportunity for you to reactivate your account. If you reactivate, you build a point,” he said.
Opportunity for all customers
He further highlighted that the promotion includes a raffle draw to ensure that even customers with smaller deposits still have the chance to win major prizes.
“Now, what is interesting about this whole thing is that the first four in terms of ranking would qualify automatically. But there is going to be a raffle with the Caritas Group where any customer at all who has taken part of this can qualify,” he explained.
This means that even customers who deposit GH¢300 could be randomly selected through the raffle to join the top-ranked participants in the final draw.
“And so if you have just dropped even 300 Ghana cedis, you stand the opportunity of being that lucky one to be chosen to join the top four who will build points,” he said.
Strengthening customer relationships
Mr Kamagate emphasised that the initiative forms part of the bank’s broader efforts to strengthen relationships with customers while promoting financial discipline through savings.
“This is a call to all Ghanaians that your bank has been around for 73 years and has never failed on its promise,” he said.
He encouraged customers to take advantage of the opportunity to save while enjoying the chance to travel and support the Ghana national football team as they face Croatia, Panama, and England at the global tournament.
“Let’s travel together and watch the Black Stars as they play Croatia, Panama, and our own colonial masters, England,” he said.
Future loyalty programmes
Mr Kamagate noted that such promotions are part of the bank’s continuous engagement strategy with customers.
“Every now and then in our gamification process, we like to play with our customers. And so every now and then, we bring these loyalty programs. We have done several,” he said.
He cited previous initiatives where customers were rewarded with international travel opportunities, including a holiday to Dubai last year.
“Last year, we took some customers on a holiday to Dubai. And in early January, some customers also travelled outside. So it’s something we do to engage with our customers,” he added.
Mr Kamagate hinted that the bank may introduce even bigger customer engagement initiatives after the current promotion concludes in May.
“So look out for the next one, after this one in May. And that may even be bigger than what you are seeing now,” he said.
He concluded by reaffirming the bank’s commitment to maintaining lifelong relationships with its customers.
“So we say that at GCB, when you join us, we are your bankers for life and you are our customers for life. And so we go beyond just to keep the relationship,” he stated.
