Pastor Erasmus Billow of the Increased Ministry, along with Joshua Adamptey, is accused of tricking driver Yarkeeni Iddrisu into giving large sums of money under the pretense of helping him purify gold. Another accomplice, Albert, is still at large.

According to court records, Iddrisu and Billow were once close friends. Billow reportedly convinced Iddrisu that Adamptey and Albert had inherited gold and needed financial assistance to make it usable. Trusting the pastor, the victim borrowed funds and sold his car, eventually handing over a total of GHC700,000.

The accused allegedly instructed Iddrisu to perform a spiritual bath at a Somanya riverbank. During the ritual, a gang allegedly orchestrated by Billow and his accomplices ambushed the victim, beating him and stealing GHC6,000, his phone, and transferring GHC11,000 from his accounts.

Billow and Adamptey appeared in Accra Circuit Court, where they denied all charges. Each was granted bail of GHC100,000 with two property-backed sureties. The case has been adjourned to October 14, 2025, for further proceedings.

In his caution statement, Adamptey admitted to handling money from the victim and Billow, acknowledging that he had sent GHC200,000 to his spiritual mentor in Benin, though he could not recall the full amount.

Authorities continue to investigate the alleged scam and track down the remaining accomplice.
