PBC Limited has ordered Licensed Buying Company Atlas Commodities to exit all its depots, sheds, and other tools in the Volta Region.

In a statement, it revealed that the occupancy had been granted through a clandestine collaboration with some PBC staff and described the development as an unfortunate incident.

It stated that the illegality was being perpetrated without express approval from management.

“Management hereby directs Atlas Commodities and all other Licensed Buying Companies to vacate PBC depots and sheds with immediate effect.”

It further underscored the relevance of healthy competition through collaboration.

“Building a sustainable cocoa sector requires collective effort; therefore, any LBC seeking to use PBC’s logistics and facilities must do so formally, with recourse to executive management. The case of PBC versus Atlas Commodities in the Volta Region underscores broader concerns about private LBCs exploiting PBC assets through unofficial means.”

It also urged the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) to enforce its regulations requiring LBCs to maintain physical offices in their operational areas. To reduce the risk of some LBCs shortchanging farmers on credited cocoa beans.

“PBC remains open to collaborating with all LBCs in Ghana, provided such arrangements follow due process and formal agreements.”
