Former Member of Parliament for Akrofuom, Alex Blankson, has criticised some flagbearer aspirants in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he describes as a lack of diplomacy, following the party’s recent peace pact signing.

Speaking on the issue in an interview on Angel FM on January 26, 2026, Blankson expressed concern over public statements made by certain candidates, warning that such conduct could undermine party unity.

“We all saw what happened at the peace pact signing. Have you seen how some of the candidates are publicly handling the issues? Kennedy is saying one thing and Bryan Acheampong is also saying another thing,” he said.

According to him, individuals seeking leadership positions must demonstrate maturity and tact, especially when dealing with sensitive internal party matters.

“If you want to become a leader of a group or president, there is something called diplomacy. Issues that are discussed in secret must remain secret. You don’t just come outside to speak about it or share grievances on it,” he indicated.

Alex Blankson further addressed the internal dynamics of the party during the primaries ahead of the 2024 general elections.

He noted that there was broad support for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia from key figures within the party, including Ken Agyapong and Bryan Acheampong, who are both contesting for the flagbearer position.

“… Ken and Bryan were all in support of Dr Bawumia and we were following. Bryan was a coordinator for Bawumia’s campaign in the Eastern Region, who was in charge of distributing materials to the region. We are privy to all this information,” he stated.

He also alleged that tensions emerged after the primaries, particularly involving Kennedy Agyapong, whom he claimed became estranged from some party colleagues following the outcome.
