The Women’s Ministry of the Pentecost International Worship Centre, PIWC-Atomic, a ministry of the Church of Pentecost, organised an annual skill set training programme over the weekend in Accra.
The initiative was aimed at equipping members of the Women’s Ministry with essential life skills for effective home management, job creation and overall women’s economic empowerment to achieve national development.
This year’s training focused on six household essentials: water closet (WC) cleaner, floor and toilet cleaner, multipurpose detergent, fabric softener, shower gel and bar soap.
The Director and Facilitator of the Centre for Skills Entrepreneurship Productivity and Management (CESPIM), Dr. Eric William Ampadu, PhD, led the participants through an intensive session with theoretical teaching and hands-on exercises.
He re-echoed to the participants the need to comply with the regulations of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), stressing the importance of standardisation, certification, safety precautions, proper use and balance of chemicals, testing ph, appropriate processing techniques, branding and quality control.
Dr Ampadu re-emphasised that participants needed to always remember that “water is the boss,” and although it was the commonest ingredient, it was the most necessary ingredient that should not be underestimated but applied and utilised in its purest form, either by distilling, boiling or by other purification methods before use.
Satisfaction
The District Women’s Ministry leader, Gifty Agyemang, expressed her satisfaction over the turnout and success of this year’s training.
She was thankful and full of admiration for the willingness of the women in the district to acquire new skills.
“I believe that such programmes foster financial freedom, skill set, innovation, creativity, agility and adaptability, which were required to advance the ‘Possessing the Nations’ Agenda’, which counts on the contributions of women as well.”
Mrs Agyemang encouraged the participants to utilise the skills acquired for profitable ventures and home management.
She hinted at plans to continue subsidising the training cost and expanding the programme.
Last year’s focus was on spices and aromatics production, and next year’s training promises an even bigger package.
