The 1998 year-group of the Past OLA Girls Association (POGA) has congratulated Lieutenant Colonel Jacqueline Delali Galley on her appointment as the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Ghana Military Police.

Lt Col. Galley, a product of OLA Senior High School, Ho, and a member of the year-group, assumed duty on January 15 this year as the first female CO of the unit.

She took over from Lt Col. Percy Odartey Lamptey at a ceremony in Accra, which marked a significant milestone in her distinguished military career.

In a statement issued last Friday, the year group described Lt Col. Galley as a trailblazer, saying her distinguished and momentous achievement marked a defining chapter not only in her sterling military career, but also in the annals of Ghana Armed Forces’ leadership.

The statement recalled that as Dining Hall Prefect, Lt Col. Galley demonstrated an innate sense of responsibility, integrity and authority.

Even then, her calm confidence and fairness marked her as a natural leader, the statement added.

It further said that the early foundation had now blossomed into a commanding presence at the highest levels of military leadership.

“Her journey from the classrooms of OLA to the forefront of national security leadership is both inspiring and instructive.

It also affirms that leadership nurtured in school, refined through service and strengthened by perseverance can reshape institutions and break standing barriers,” it added.

The statement said that as the first woman to hold that position, Lt Col. Galley had opened doors for countless young women, boldly proving that excellence knew no gender.

The achievements of the celebrated role model, proud daughter and Gem of OLA, Ho, the statement maintained, uplifted not only POGA’98, but women across Ghana and beyond.
