Police arrest four suspected armed robbers linked to Kunsu attacks

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers in connection with a robbery incident that occurred at Kunsu in the Ashanti Region on December 7, 2025.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday, January 27, the arrests were carried out on January 21, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m. following intelligence-led operations by personnel of the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit in Kumasi, working in collaboration with officers from the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Directorate (NOD) at Police Headquarters in Accra.

Investigations indicate that the four men are members of a criminal syndicate believed to be responsible for a series of robbery incidents in Kunsu and its surrounding communities.

A search conducted in the room of Yahaya Siedu led to the recovery of several weapons and items suspected to have been used in the criminal activities.

These included two pump-action guns, three cutlasses, five mobile phones, twenty-two BB cartridges and an amount ofGH¢5,400.00 in cash.

Police further confirmed that one of the firearms recovered, a Pardus shotgun, was stolen during the robbery incident along the Kunsu–Mankranso road on December 7, 2025.

The police revealed that the suspects have admitted to conspiring to rob miners of cash, gold concentrate and other valuables. They are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
