Police Arrest ‘Notorious’ Abokobi Land Guard, Accomplice for Unlawful Firearm Possession

The Police have arrested a suspected notorious land guard, Saviour Kojo Ekpe, at Abokobi in the Greater Accra Region following intelligence linking him to acts of intimidation and illegal possession of firearms in the area.

The arrest was carried out on March 5, 2026, after intelligence indicated that the suspect had been terrorising residents in Abokobi and its surrounding communities as wells as reports that he allegedly rent out weapons to criminals for unlawful activities.

A search conducted in his room led to the retrieval of four pump action guns, 101 AA and BB live cartridges, one Glock Austria pistol, 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a jack knife.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted ownership of the weapons but failed to provide any lawful justification for possessing them. He claimed that some were used for hunting and personal protection.

Meanwhile, investigators suspects that the weapons are rented out to individuals for criminal activities.

The police also has a second suspect in custody believed to be  an accomplice of Ekpe, for allegedly threatening the life of a complainant.

Both suspects are currently in Police custody assisting investigations.
