The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect for making inciteful comments believed to pose a threat to public peace and security in Bawku and its surrounding communities.
According to a statement issued by the police on Saturday, January 31, 2026, the suspect, identified as Raphael Azare Kariyama, was apprehended through an intelligence-led operation.

“The suspect, Raphael Azare Kariyama, was arrested through an intelligence-led operation aimed at monitoring and curbing the spread of content that incites violence or threatens public order and national security,” the statement said.

The police further indicated that the suspect is currently in police custody.
“The suspect is currently in police custody and will be put before the court to face the full rigours of the law. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other accomplices,” the statement added.
The police cautioned the public against making, publishing, or sharing inciteful comments, stressing that such actions undermine peace, security, and public order.
