The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with the recent armed robbery and murder of a police officer in Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
In a press release dated February 14, 2026, the Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, stated that the suspect, Simon Apusiga, 42, also known as Ananga, was apprehended at his hideout in Tarkwa Huni Valley on February 10, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation.
According to the police, Ananga fled the region shortly after the incident occurred on February 8, 2026, and was later traced to the Western Region.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
The arrest follows a special operation deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, aimed at bringing those responsible for the killing of the police officer to justice.
“The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting investigations,” the statement read.
The police indicated that the suspect will be arraigned before court to face the full rigours of the law, while efforts continue to apprehend other suspects involved in the case.
The police further assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all individuals involved will be held accountable.
