The police from the Akosombo Divisional Command have arrested three suspects allegedly in possession of 105 bundles of forged U.S. $100 notes.
According to a police statement, the fake cash was contained in a student’s trunk at Larsi, Odumase-Krobo, in the Eastern Region.
“The suspects Ebenezer Narh-Tsu, aged 20, George Attor, aged 48, and Bishop Robert Olertey, aged 54, were arrested through an intelligence-led operation by the Odumase-Krobo District Police at their hideout at Larsi.”
The statement further disclosed that suspect Bishop Robert Olertey allegedly offered a bribe of Gh¢20,000.00 to the arresting officers to evade arrest.
However, the cash was rejected and has since been handed over to the Akosombo Divisional CID for investigations.
Following their arrest on March 11, suspect Ebenezer Narh-Tsu was arraigned before the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court on Friday, March 13, 2026, on the motion of Notice of detention but was granted bail in the sum of Gh$100,000.00 with two sureties to report to the Police every Monday for two weeks to assist in investigations.
The other two suspects have also been granted Police Enquiry bail while the investigation continues.
“The Eastern Regional Police Command wishes to entreat all persons to be vigilant against counterfeit currencies to avoid financial loss,” it noted.
