The Nkawie Divisional Police Command, led by ASP Noah Yakpah, has taken decisive action against illegal mining activities in Afipaye Community in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

The police during the unannounced operation burned down illegal mining equipment and structures along the River Offin, sending a strong message to those involved in the illicit activity.

The residents had reported illegal mining activities polluting river Offin, an essential water source for the entire community

The operation aims to protect the environment and water resources from the devastating effects of illegal mining, also known as “galamsey”.

The police command urges residents to support efforts to eradicate illegal mining and promote sustainable development in the area.
