The Ghana Police Service has apprehended three individuals suspected of involvement in a series of violent attacks on mobile money vendors in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects, identified as Charles Danso, Phillip Foujour, and Samuel Mensah, were linked to two recent murders—the February 13 killing of Patricia Nimako in Krofrom and the March 10 murder of Gideon Owusu Sarpong, also known as Junior, in Kwadaso.
Law enforcement officers arrested the trio on March 21, 2025, during operations carried out in Pankrono and Atimatim.
They are currently in police custody and will soon be arraigned before the court to face charges.
Meanwhile, a fourth suspect, Martin Amoah, remains at large. Authorities have urged the public to assist in his capture by reporting any relevant information through the toll-free emergency numbers 191 or 112, or by dialing 18555 on MTN and Telecel networks.
The series of violent attacks has heightened fear among mobile money vendors in the region.
In addition to the two fatal incidents, another vendor recently fell victim to an armed robbery in broad daylight. CCTV footage from the incident captured two men storming the shop, assaulting the vendor, and fleeing with stolen cash.
Fortunately, the victim survived the attack.
The police continue to intensify efforts to ensure the safety of vendors and bring all perpetrators to justice.
