Police Discover 4000 Suspected Narcotics Concealed in Trailer

The police have announced the impounding of a DAF Long Trailer with 4000 parcels of compressed dried leaf substances wrapped in a yellow masking tape, suspected to be narcotics.

The discovery took place at Dambai on February 10, 2026, by personnel from the Oti Regional Police Command while acting on intelligence.

The substances were found in secret compartments of the vehicle with registration number GW 1943-09.

“A search in the secret compartments led to the discovery of Four Thousand (4000) parcels of compressed dried leaf substances wrapped in a yellow masking tape suspected to be narcotics, carefully concealed within the compartments,” the police said in a statement.

The driver, identified as Amidu Jubril, aged 40, was arrested and assisting the police with the ongoing investigation.

The truck has since been impounded, and all exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes.

“The Regional Police Command assures the public of its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related offences,” it added.
