A 29-year-old unemployed woman is in police custody after allegedly destroying her former boyfriend’s property and stabbing him during a heated altercation in Sowutuom, Accra.
The suspect, Augustina Adoma, reportedly stormed the home of her ex-partner, Emmanuel Otabil, a 30-year-old driver, on Thursday morning. Authorities say she became enraged upon finding him with another woman. In a fit of anger, she allegedly doused the pair with water and snatched Otabil’s Samsung phone before storming off.
The situation escalated later that afternoon when Adoma allegedly returned to the residence while Otabil was away. Using a spare key, she reportedly entered his kiosk and set fire to several personal belongings, including bedding and furniture.
When Otabil confronted her about the destruction and demanded his phone back, the argument turned violent. Adoma is accused of grabbing a knife from a nearby fruit vendor and stabbing Otabil in the chest.
The victim was rushed to multiple medical facilities, undergoing emergency surgery at the University of Ghana Medical Centre. He remains hospitalized but is in stable condition.
Police later apprehended Adoma at Tesano Police Station, where she had gone to file a counter-complaint against Otabil. Officers recovered the stolen phone during her arrest.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and have urged the public to resolve disputes through legal means rather than violence.
