Police Raid Home of Alleged Drug Dealer, Uncover Massive Haul

A man identified as Bukari Yakubu has been arrested in Akatsi, located in Ghana’s Volta Region, following a targeted police operation based on intelligence about illegal drug activities.

The operation was carried out in the early hours of Saturday, May 10, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., after law enforcement officers tracked his movements over a period of time. Authorities stormed his residence with the aim of curbing suspected criminal activity tied to drug distribution in the area.

Upon searching the premises, officers discovered 92 slabs of what is believed to be Indian hemp. The suspected narcotics had been tightly packed and wrapped in a yellowish covering, suggesting preparation for distribution. In addition to the drugs, police also seized two Royal motorbikes believed to be stolen property.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Yakubu had been involved in the distribution of illegal substances across Akatsi and surrounding areas. During interrogation, he reportedly acknowledged ownership of both the drugs and the seized motorbikes.

He is currently in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities have indicated that he will be processed for court and is likely to face charges related to drug possession and possibly theft.

The arrest forms part of the Ghana Police Service’s broader efforts to combat drug trafficking and clamp down on criminal networks operating across the country. The police have reiterated their commitment to public safety and called on residents to report suspicious behavior to help maintain law and order.
