The police have secured an injunction against a planned protest against illegal mining.
The order granted by a High Court in Accra, on February 24, 2026, restrains the conveners from holding the planned protest on Friday, February 27, 2026.
It noted that the date was inappropriate as it coincided with the delivery of the State of the Nation Address (SONA).
It affirmed that it remains open to engaging the conveners to agree on a mutually convenient date for the demonstration.
It added that the order has been served on the conveners and will be enforced.
“The Accra Regional Police Command urges the general public to comply with the Court Order and avoid any actions that may lead to breaches of the peace. The Command assures all stakeholders of its commitment to upholding constitutional rights while ensuring public safety and law and order.”
