A 28-year-old driver, Emmanuel Aboku, has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing a motorbike from a farmer in the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred on July 24, 2025, when 56-year-old Albert Nahi parked his black Haojue motorbike at the Star Oil Filling Station in Asesewa before traveling to Accra. Upon returning the next day, the motorbike had vanished.
Police investigations, aided by CCTV footage from the filling station, identified Aboku as the suspect. A manhunt led to his arrest on August 16 in Asesewa. During interrogation, Aboku confessed and led officers to Anyesu Village, where the stolen motorbike was recovered.
He was charged under Section 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and arraigned before the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court. Given the evidence and his admission, the court handed down a six-year custodial sentence.
Chief Inspector John Brahene, who led the investigation, said the punishment was meant not only to hold Aboku accountable but also to deter similar crimes in the Krobo enclave.
