Political scientist, Dr Kwasi Amakye-Boateng, has dismissed comments by Former Environment Minister, Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, describing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a ‘fake party’.

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) lecturer explained that the assertion does not reflect the reality of the party.

Speaking on JoyNews Today, Dr Amakye-Boateng stressed that the NPP remains a legitimate political organisation with a defined ideological foundation.

“I reject the claim that the NPP is a fake party; the party has a long history, clear values, and has played a significant role in Ghana’s democratic journey,” he said on January 13, 2026.

He acknowledged that the party faces internal challenges but argued that such issues are common to all political organisations and should be addressed through established party structures rather than public criticism.
