Recent polls conducted by Africa Focus in the Northern Region have revealed significant insights into voter preferences ahead of the 2024 presidential election. According to the polls, which sampled nearly 13,987 voters, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB) is leading with a significant margin, while former President John Dramani Mahama (JDM) trails behind.
The findings indicate that 58% of voters surveyed expressed their intention to vote for Vice President Bawumia in the upcoming election. This substantial lead underscores the popularity and support Bawumia commands within the region.
Former President Mahama, on the other hand, garnered 32% of the voter support, indicating a considerable gap between him and the leading candidate. Despite his prominence in Ghanaian politics, Mahama faces a challenging electoral landscape in the Northern Region.
The polls also shed light on the preferences of voters who are considering alternative candidates. Six percent of respondents indicated their intention to vote for other aspirants, reflecting a diverse range of political choices within the electorate.
Additionally, four percent of voters remain undecided, suggesting that there is still potential for shifts in support leading up to the election.
The results of the Africa Focus polls have sparked discussions and analysis among political analysts and observers. The significant lead enjoyed by Vice President Bawumia signals a formidable challenge for opponents seeking to sway voters in the region.
As the election approaches, candidates and political parties are likely to intensify their campaign efforts in the Northern Region, aiming to consolidate support and win over undecided voters. The region’s electoral significance underscores its role as a key battleground in shaping the outcome of the 2024 presidential race.
While the polls provide valuable insights into voter sentiments at this moment, they are not necessarily indicative of the final election outcome. Political dynamics can evolve rapidly, and the true test of candidate support will be determined on Election Day.
