Poor Road Network in Amansie West Fuelling Armed Robbery Attacks

Residents of Amansie West District in the Ashanti Region are blaming the worsening security situation in their communities on the poor state of roads, which they say makes it easier for armed robbers to strike and escape.

Several attacks have been reported along key routes, particularly between Mmoseaso and Antoakrom, where criminals ambush unsuspecting traders and commuters, often in broad daylight. Victims are left traumatised as robbers flee with money and valuables.

For many locals, farming and trading are their primary sources of livelihood, but the increasing insecurity is affecting business activities. Some now avoid travelling on routes connecting Antoakrom, Mmoseaso, Anwiankwanta, and Manso Nkwanta for fear of being attacked.

Residents are calling on authorities to not only improve security but also fix the deteriorating roads, arguing that smoother road conditions would reduce the ease with which criminals operate in the area.
