Postecoglou’s exit from Spurs came shortly after delivering the club’s first major trophy in 17 years — a Europa League triumph that stunned fans and critics alike. Despite the silverware, Tottenham parted ways with him, a decision that Postecoglou admitted left him surprised and reflective. It marked the first time in his career he had been sacked, and the first off-season he’d spent without a club.

Now back in the Premier League, Postecoglou is focused on building success with Forest. He described the opportunity as unexpected but welcomed, noting that he had not anticipated a vacancy at the club given Nuno’s previous achievements. However, when the chance arose, he was ready to take it.

Much attention has been given to Postecoglou’s connection with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, a fellow Greek. While the two have met a handful of times — including a public appearance in Athens where Marinakis presented him with an award — Postecoglou clarified that their relationship is not deeply personal. Still, he expressed admiration for Marinakis’ ambition and the club’s commitment to backing its goals with action.

Postecoglou made it clear that his mission at Forest is the same as it’s been throughout his career: win trophies. With 21 titles already under his belt, including domestic success in Scotland and Asia, and international honors with Australia, he arrives with a proven track record. Forest, whose last major triumph came in 1990, now hopes to end its long wait for silverware under his leadership.
