Pregnant Woman, Baby Among 7 Killed in Road Crash At Komenda Asamasa

A pregnant woman and a baby are among seven fatalities recorded in a road crash at Komenda Asamasa along the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway.

The victims were on board a Sprinter Bus with registration number GS 6705-21, travelling from Komenda towards Takoradi.

The accident occurred around 7 pm on January 12, 2026.

Eyewitnesses say a Man Diesel Truck with registration number GS 8394 Y, travelling from Takoradi towards Cape Coast, lost control while overtaking another vehicle and collided head-on with the Sprinter bus travelling in the opposite direction.

GNFS rescuers extricated six trapped victims from the Sprinter bus, which had veered into a nearby bush.

All six (6) were pronounced dead on arrival at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, while another casualty (female) who had earlier been taken to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital was also pronounced dead, bringing the total fatalities to seven.

Additionally, 18 people who sustained varying degrees of injuries are currently receiving medical treatment.
