President Mahama departs for key international engagements in UK and Switzerland

President John Dramani Mahama has left Ghana for a working visit to the United Kingdom and Switzerland, where he will attend high-level meetings and a major global forum.

According to an official communication from the Presidency released on Sunday, January 11, 2026, the President departed Accra en-route to the United Kingdom.

His initial engagements will be with the Coordinators of the Accra Reset Initiative, a focal point of his international agenda.

Following the UK meetings, President Mahama will proceed to Davos, Switzerland, to participate in a session of the World Economic Forum. 

The annual gathering brings together global political, business, and civil society leaders.

The statement also indicated plans for the President to hold bilateral meetings with other world leaders on the sidelines of the Davos Forum. These talks are expected to cover matters of mutual interest and cooperation.

The announcement was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, who serves as the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications. The statement confirmed the President’s itinerary as beginning on the date of publication.

This trip forms part of a diplomatic outreach early in the year, focusing on both a specific development initiative and broader economic discussions on the global stage.
