Mahama attends inaugural Innovation Forum in Libreville, holds talks with Gabon President

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Libreville, Gabon, to take part in the first Libreville International Forum for Innovation and Development, the Presidency said.

In a statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications on,the high level event has drawn Heads of State, government officials, investors and technology experts from across the world.

The forum is being held under the patronage of Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of Gabon, on the theme “Political Stability, Business Climate, and Artificial Intelligence: Catalysts for Growth.”

Mr Ofosu said the event is also being used to open the newly built Omar Bongo Ondimba Congress Centre, which is hosting the forum and will serve as a venue for international engagements.

According to the statement, the forum will end with the adoption of the Libreville Declaration, expected to outline the positions of participating leaders on governance, transparency and digital systems across Africa.

“President Mahama remains a strong advocate for fostering partnerships that bridge the gap between government policy and private sector growth to ensure inclusive development,” the statement said.

The one day forum is expected to feature panel discussions, keynote addresses, the signing of agreements and meetings between businesses and governments.

The event is taking place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, and coincides with the first anniversary of President Nguema’s inauguration, which President Mahama attended on May 3, 2025.
