Presidential Envoy Demands Prophecies on National Issues Be Reported Before Public Release

The Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations has issued a directive urging all ecumenical leaders throughout Ghana to channel any prophecies or spiritual revelations related to national matters through the presidency prior to public disclosure.

A circular dated August 10, 2025, addressed to all heads of Christian denominations, was sent by Presidential Envoy Elvis Afriyie Ankrah on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama. The message began by acknowledging the steadfast spiritual support and leadership the Church has provided in fostering peace, moral values, and national unity.

The document highlighted the critical role of religious institutions in Ghana’s social and spiritual fabric, emphasizing the need for collaboration between church authorities and government especially amid complex and uncertain times.

In the letter, Envoy Afriyie Ankrah instructed church leaders to notify all prophets, pastors, and spiritual figures under their jurisdiction that any prophecy or divine insight concerning national affairs—particularly those involving political leaders, governance, security, or public order—must first be submitted to the Office of the Presidential Envoy. This is intended to allow for proper evaluation and handling.

This directive aims to promote responsibility and discernment, preventing the spread of misinformation or unnecessary alarm following sensitive or high-stakes spiritual pronouncements.

The circular also referenced the recent military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of senior officials and officers, urging intensified prayers for the President, government institutions, affected families, and the nation as a whole.

Finally, the Envoy appealed for ongoing cooperation between religious bodies and the government, asking for continued divine guidance and comfort as Ghana navigates these challenging moments.
