Former Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta, George Obeng Takyi, has acknowledged a reduction in the prices of goods under the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government led by President John Dramani Mahama, urging Ghanaians to give credit where it is due.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Mr. Obeng Takyi stated that recent economic trends show some relief for consumers, particularly in the cost of essential goods.
According to him, the decline in prices is evident in markets across the country and reflects policy decisions taken by the Mahama-led administration.
“Let’s be honest, prices of goods have reduced under the NDC government led by President Mahama, and he deserves credit for that,” he said during the discussion.
The former lawmaker explained that while Ghana continues to face economic challenges, including the effects of global inflation and currency pressures, the current government’s interventions appear to be easing the burden on ordinary citizens.
He pointed to relative stability in the prices of food items and other household necessities as indicators of improvement.
Mr Obeng Takyi called on political actors to rise above partisan considerations when assessing national issues, emphasising that acknowledging positive developments is crucial for constructive public discourse.
