Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has stirred national debate once again after criticizing the government’s handling of the persistent electricity crisis, popularly known as Dumsor.
His comments, shared on social media platform X, reflect growing public anger over the contradiction between the government’s economic aspirations and the country’s current challenges.
Referencing the much-publicized promise of a 24-hour economy — a policy idea frequently mentioned by President John Mahama — Osei questioned how such a plan could be implemented when power outages have become a daily struggle for many Ghanaians.
His post quickly gained traction online, echoing the sentiments of countless citizens frustrated by the erratic power supply that continues to plague homes and businesses.
Many have expressed that the ambitious talk of round-the-clock economic activity seems out of touch when basic services like electricity are still unreliable.
Osei’s criticism has sparked a divided reaction. While many applauded him for voicing what they themselves have felt, others accused him of being selective in his activism — questioning why he remained silent about similar issues under the previous administration led by Nana Akufo-Addo.
The debate continues as Ghanaians weigh the feasibility of major economic reforms against the backdrop of ongoing power instability.
