PTAAM–Africa has expressed concern over allegations of vote buying following the recently concluded parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a statement signed by its President, Ebenezer K Havor, the organisation said, “its position is rooted in its commitment to fairness, equity and the integrity of Ghana’s democratic processes, rather than in the defence or justification of any alleged wrongdoing.”
PTAAM–Africa stressed that “all individuals and institutions involved in the electoral process must be held to the same standards of conduct and accountability, regardless of political affiliation or influence.”

According to the organisation, justice must be applied impartially and without favour to maintain public confidence in the democratic system.
As part of its advocacy, PTAAM–Africa outlined key principles it believes should guide the handling of allegations related to vote buying.
These include fairness in judgment, ensuring that accusations are assessed objectively and without bias; equity in treatment, with rules and sanctions applied equally to all parties and transparency and accountability in political and electoral decision-making.
The organisation noted that strengthening these principles is essential to safeguarding the credibility of Ghana’s elections and reinforcing public trust in democratic institutions.
PTAAM–Africa reiterated its call for a democratic environment built on integrity, equal standards and respect for the rule of law, describing these values as critical to achieving a just and credible political system.
