PwC Ghana, in partnership with the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), organised a conference to mark the International Women’s Day celebration to empower female students through a mentorship and career development programme aimed at preparing young women for the world of work.
The initiative, dubbed ‘Empowering the next generation through shared experience,’ was held on March 10 at the University of Ghana as part of PwC’s global celebration of International Women’s Day under the theme Leaders Shaping Tomorrow, aligned with the broader IWD call to action, #GiveToGain.
The programme brought together female students for practical career mentorship sessions, leadership conversations, and exposure to entrepreneurship opportunities.
Giving a keynote address, Partner at PwC Ghana, Augustina Ekua Mills, encouraged young girls to collaborate and avoid unhealthy competition, emphasising that ‘sisterhood is power, sharing is strength, and giving is growth.’
She acknowledged women who supported her journey as she reflected on two decades in the financial sector.
The Corporate Responsibility Leader at PwC Ghana, Clara Amarteifio-Taylor, said the partnership with UGBS was designed to help bridge the gap between academic training and industry expectations. She urged young women to invest in themselves, be bold, and seize opportunities to step into leadership roles.
