Rare picture of Anthony Annan resurfaces after years away from spotlight

Former Ghana international Anthony Annan has been largely out of the public eye in recent years, but a rare sighting of the midfielder has now surfaced online, sparking excitement among fans.

Annan, who made his name as a combative and energetic central midfielder for the Black Stars, last played at the highest European levels during his time with Schalke 04, leaving the German club in 2014.

Since then, the 39-year-old has had a journeyman career, featuring for clubs including HJK Helsinki in Finland, Osasuna in Spain, Vitesse in the Netherlands, and most recently, TPS Turku in 2022.

In 2023, Annan moved to Germany’s lower leagues, signing for Arminia Lirich, where he has continued to ply his trade away from the spotlight. Despite his absence from mainstream football headlines, the Ghanaian midfielder has clearly remained active on the pitch.
