The management team overseeing the Kumasi City Market (Kejetia Market) has been asked to step aside following directives from Ashanti Regional Minister Frank Amoakohene.
The decision comes in response to petitions from traders and other stakeholders raising concerns about market operations.
A series of discussions with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and market officials led to the decision, which aims to allow a thorough investigation into issues related to sanitation, utility bills, and general management practices.
To ensure continuity, an Interim Management Committee (IMC) has been appointed to oversee operations.
The new team consists of Prince Ofori Atta as Chairman, Amoah Prince Nyarko handling operations, and Nana Prempeh Amankwaa in charge of security.
Outgoing management has been directed to submit all relevant documents to facilitate the investigation, as authorities seek to address concerns and restore order to the market’s administration.
