Ghanaian music sensation KiDi has disclosed that his early days with Lynx Entertainment were far from smooth, admitting that his initial defiance nearly led to the termination of his contract with the label.
Speaking on the ‘Talk No Dey Cook Rice’ podcast, the “Touch It” hitmaker reflected on the turbulent start to his professional journey with Lynx.
At the time of signing, KiDi believed he had already found his artistic identity. Having received accolades as an underground R&B singer since 2009, he came on board brimming with confidence and a clear sense of the sound he wanted to pursue.
But that confidence quickly became a source of tension. According to KiDi, the team at Lynx had a different plan for his musical direction and encouraged him to branch out creatively.
Unwilling to abandon his R&B roots, he resisted the push for change, insisting on sticking to the formula that had earned him praise in the underground scene.
This standoff led to internal frustrations, as Lynx sought to mold him into a more versatile artist while he clung to what he knew best. The friction grew so intense that the label reportedly considered dropping him shortly after bringing him on.
Despite the clash, KiDi eventually came to see the value in their vision. Recognizing that growth required openness, he chose to adapt.
He began exploring music production, picked up new instruments, and gradually reshaped his sound.
The experience, though difficult at first, became a turning point in his career. KiDi credited his transformation to a process of learning, unlearning, and relearning—a journey that ultimately helped him evolve into the successful artist he is today.
