Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye has opened up about difficulties surrounding his children’s ability to travel abroad, attributing the situation to ongoing disagreements with their mother, Joana Quaye.
Speaking during an appearance on The Delay Show hosted by Delay, Quaye disclosed that his children currently do not have visas, a situation he says has persisted due to complications linked to parental consent.
According to Quaye, attempts to secure travel visas for his children have repeatedly stalled due to objections raised during the application process.
“My children don’t have visas as I speak to you today, because their mother is so bitter to the extent that anytime I want something, she blocks it,” he stated.
He explained that responses from visa authorities often reference concerns from the children’s mother, which ultimately affect approval decisions.
“I can go and apply for a visa for my children, and the response I get is per mother is concerned, it won’t be approved,” he added.
Beyond the logistical setbacks, Quaye highlighted the emotional toll the situation has had on his children. He noted that they sometimes express a desire to travel abroad like their peers, often mentioning destinations such as London.
In response, he said he encourages them to seek their mother’s consent in hopes of facilitating the process.
Despite the travel limitations, Quaye emphasized his efforts to ensure his children still enjoy meaningful experiences within Ghana. He referenced videos showing moments spent together, including time aboard his private jet.
“The videos of them in my private jet, sometimes they just want to be in their daddy’s private jet,” he said.
According to him, trips are often limited to domestic destinations such as Kumasi and Tamale, where they spend time together.
