A fierce clash between two long-feuding groups in the Ahafo Ano South West District ended in tragedy at about 3:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025. The confrontation, which unfolded in Mpaasaaso Number 2, claimed two lives and left another victim in critical condition.

Preliminary reports point to groups from Mpaasaaso Number 1 and Mpaasaaso Number 2, whose rivalry has simmered for years, finally erupting into a violent showdown. Local leaders say the tension had been building around one of the deceased, a man widely known in the area by the nickname “Commander One.”

Community accounts paint a dark picture of the activities associated with the man. Residents say he was known for grooming young people for dangerous exploits, including weapon handling, violent assaults, and various unlawful rituals. He reportedly commanded a sizeable following equipped with pump-action guns and was considered a major source of insecurity in the enclave.

According to community sources, the conflict reached its breaking point after several of the young men who had been under his influence reportedly aligned themselves with a rival faction. This shift in loyalty is believed to have triggered the deadly confrontation. During the chaos, “Commander One” sustained a deep stab wound to the jaw, leading to his death on the scene.

Residents described him as a figure who had long instilled fear, noting that although his activities were widely known, few were willing—or able—to confront him. The rivalry linked to his operations had reportedly been ongoing for about two years.
