Roman Ridge School sets new QCEC record with 364 medals

The Roman Ridge School (TRRS) has posted its strongest performance yet in the 2025 edition of the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition.

At a special awards ceremony held on February 18, 2026, the school announced it had secured a record 364 medals.

The competition, organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society, is regarded as the world’s oldest international schools’ writing contest.

More than 53,000 young writers from 54 Commonwealth countries took part in this year’s event, themed “Our Commonwealth Journey.”

TRRS submitted 610 entries and earned 206 Bronze, 110 Silver and 43 Gold medals.

Five students were further shortlisted as Gold Medal Finalists for the Overall Global Prize.

They are Michelle-Carmen Edinam Dordor, Arthur Nana Kojo Anti Owusu, Manha Mulani, Eliel Binitie and Wilma Inkumsah.

The ceremony attracted senior officials including Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

He conveyed congratulations on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama and praised the pupils for projecting Ghana positively across the Commonwealth.

Founded in 2002, TRRS is a private co-educational institution offering British-based education while maintaining strong Ghanaian values.
