Marriage therapist Shamseddin Giwa has cautioned women about certain behaviours in men that signal potential trouble in relationships.
In a Facebook post, he outlined key red flags that women should take seriously before considering marriage.
One of his biggest warnings is against men who insist that their partners must get pregnant before they propose.
He also highlighted other concerning attitudes, including men who refuse to let their wives work, those who demand women stop their education until after marriage, and men who let their mothers control major decisions in their relationships.
Here’s his full list of red flags:
- “You must get pregnant before I propose.”
- “You cannot work; you’ll be a full-time housewife.”
- “I’m not sure where this is going yet, but let’s see how it goes.”
- “When we marry, you will break your SIM card.”
- “We must live in the family house.”
- “Stop your school for now; when I marry you, you can continue.”
- “I don’t have anything doing for now.”
- “My mummy said” (on most issues).
- “There’s no need for details, let’s just do it.”
His advice has sparked discussions online, with many agreeing that these signs indicate controlling or irresponsible behaviour in men.
Others, however, believe that some of the listed points could be negotiable based on mutual understanding.
What do you think? Would you avoid a man with these traits?
