The rapper opened up on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, where he told hosts Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie about a show he considers his most unsettling on stage. According to him, the problem began long before he picked up the microphone, after he unknowingly ate a marijuana-infused biscuit.

Sarkodie explained that he and his manager, Angel Town, were given a hospitality hamper at the hotel where they were staying. Inside were drinks and snacks, including biscuits that seemed harmless at the time. Hungry and unaware of their contents, he helped himself.

“I got to my hotel they had a hamper for me. And I had no idea what the hamper was. It has drinks, biscuits and everything. I took bites of the biscuits when I was hungry not knowing it had marijuana, and I have not taken marijuana before. Angel finished his and came for more from me,” he said.

Not long after, he noticed his manager laughing uncontrollably at things that made no sense, before he too began feeling unusually off. The situation became more concerning when he found himself confused backstage, even asking his team to explain the distance between where he was seated and the actual stage.

By the time he stepped out to perform, Sarkodie said his perception was completely distorted. The tempo of the music felt painfully slow to him, creating the impression that the performance was falling apart, despite the crowd responding positively.

“That’s the worst performance I’ve ever had. Because in my head all the songs sounded slow,” he divulged.

Reflecting on the experience, Sarkodie said it reminded him that artistes can sometimes give audiences a great show even when, internally, they feel far from satisfied with their performance.

Sarkodie is currently preparing for his annual Rapperholic concert, which is slated for December 25, 2025, at the Grand Arena.
