The Savannah Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sulemana Iddrisu, has on behalf of the party, reacted to the Supreme Court’s ruling quashing the High Court’s orders to rerun the 2024 Kpandai parliamentary election, describing the decision as a victory for Ghana and not just for the MP, Mr Matthew Nyindam and the NPP.

“Yes, it’s a victory for Ghana, our Constitution and not just for Matthew or the NPP, because the court has stuck to the evidence brought by us [NPP] and the National Democratic Congress [NDC] and gave its ruling. What is more than this if not for Ghana?” he indicated.

Mr Iddrisu, also known as Professor Kalamonia, further indicated that the victory is also a reflection of a functioning constitution, adding, “because when the court in Tamale ruling came, we didn’t ‘misbehave’ but went straight to the Supreme Court and true to the spirit of the constitution, the court has spoken”.

“If the constitution says in 21 days you should file, and it elapses, and you later filed, and the court can identify it, it means our judiciary is not just working but up to the task.”

In the upcoming NPP presidential primary, the NPP chairman appealed to both presidential aspirants and delegates to embrace unity before and after the exercise.

“We [NPP] have done it before through unity, and I want to say, going into this family exercise, we need unity, and that’s the game changer.

“With that [unity] we can go far. And now, everybody can see that with unity we can go beyond the presidential election. Because with unity, there’s understanding, love, respect and forgiveness.”
