The Asante Kingdom observed the second day of the four-day Dɔte Yie burial rites for Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the late Asantehemaa, at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
The day combined solemnity with a vibrant celebration of Asante heritage, reflecting centuries-old customs and traditions.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II sat in state at noon, welcoming mourners who had come to pay their respects.
The gathering drew high-profile dignitaries, including the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Buah, and Bosomtwe MP Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum.
Representatives from key state agencies attended, including the Ghana National Prisons Service, National Intelligence Bureau, National Signals Bureau, Ghana Cocoa Board, and Ghana Shippers Authority. Delegations from financial institutions such as Consolidated Bank, Access Bank, Stanbic Bank, Zenith Bank, Ecobank, and Enterprise Insurance were also present.
Students and staff from TI Ahmadiyya Senior High School and St. Louis Senior High School joined the mass of mourners, highlighting the community-wide respect for the late Queen.
The Dɔte Yie rites will continue on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, leading up to the final burial on Thursday, September 18, at Breman Baamu. The meticulously planned sequence of events allows dignitaries and the public to file past daily from 5 am to 5 pm, with the last day ending at 11 am to make way for the burial service at 3 pm. Outdoor movement restrictions will take effect from 7 pm on the final day to ensure the burial proceeds smoothly.
