Residents and businesses within several key enclaves of the Tema Metropolis are set to experience a temporary interruption in power supply this weekend as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) rolls out scheduled infrastructure upgrades.
According to an official announcement from the power distributor, the forthcoming exercise is part of a broader initiative to enhance the reliability and quality of electricity delivery across the Tema Region.
The planned shutdown, however, means that customers in the specified zones will have to navigate a few hours without electricity to allow engineers to carry out the essential works.
The phase of the maintenance is slated for Sunday, March 8, 2026, and will run from 10:00 am through to 2:00 pm.
The ECG has indicated that the temporary outage will specifically impact communities including McKeon, Sky Quarries, and Westrafo, as well as the various localities that fall within the immediate vicinity of these areas.
In its public notice, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the disruption these technical interventions cause to domestic and commercial activities. The company has assured the public that the exercises are necessary to preempt more significant system failures and to ensure the long-term stability of the power network in the region.
