The Electricity Company of Ghana, in collaboration with the Ghana Grid Company, has scheduled an extensive network of planned and emergency maintenance exercises across multiple regions for Tuesday, March 17, 2026, with engineers set to undertake critical infrastructure upgrades that will temporarily disrupt power supply to scores of communities from the Volta Region to the Western enclave.
According to a series of advisories issued by the power distributor over the past several days, the coordinated works are aimed at addressing urgent network issues while advancing broader efforts to enhance service reliability.
The outages will commence at 9:00 am across all affected areas, though the duration of interruptions will vary by region depending on the scope of works to be carried out.
In the Volta Region, the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO) will undertake planned maintenance works at the Ho Bulk Supply Point, resulting in a significant nine-hour outage from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. The interruption will affect a wide sweep of communities, including the Ho Township, Ho Airport, Tritrinu, Wumenu, Kpetoe, Ziope, Sokode Gborgame, Abutia Towns, Akrofu Towns, Adaklu Kodzobi, Hoviefe, Klefe, Ziavi, Microwave, Taviefe, Matse, Shia, Nyive, Lume, and Dzologborgame, along with their surrounding areas. Residents and businesses across this broad corridor have been advised to plan accordingly for the extended disruption.
In the Central Region, a planned maintenance exercise is scheduled to run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, affecting the Senya township, Fetteh township, Ojobi, and Bonsuoku, together with their surrounding communities. Technicians will be undertaking routine upgrades aimed at improving supply quality for residents in these coastal localities.
The Accra East Region will experience a full-day exercise from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, impacting Kwabenya Oscar, Musuku, and Kwabenya Township, along with their surrounding areas. Similarly, the Accra West Region will see an eight-hour outage during the same timeframe, affecting Anyaa Deeper Life and its adjoining neighbourhoods.
In the Ashanti Region, two separate emergency maintenance exercises have been declared for Tuesday. The first operation, running from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, will affect Fufuo, Biemso, Adugvama, Pokukrom, Kwadaso Estate, Patase, and the Santase Roundabout, along with surrounding areas. A second, identical emergency exercise during the same hours will impact the same list of communities, according to a duplicate advisory issued by the company.
Additionally, a further emergency maintenance exercise spanning from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm will affect an extensive roster of communities, including Asemkrom, Jema, Boinso, Omanpe, Kwahu, Atokosue, Nkwanta, Enchi township, Achimfo, Adjakaa, Adjoum, Nyankaman, Akontombra, Old and New Yakasi, Elubo township, and their surrounding areas.
In its public notices, the ECG and GRIDCO extended their apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities.
The companies, however, reassured the public that both the emergency and planned exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
